Decoder and Substance story starts in the 90’s when Markee was running his very successful Jungle night Ruffneck Ting in Bristol and producing his music under the moniker of ‘Substance’. He asked local hardcore act Orca to appear at one of the nights.
Meeting Darren they became fast friends and started to play each other their music, finding common cause they quickly teamed up and Drum and Bass had one of it’s classic duos.
Serve us a slice of bass heavy prototype beats, Decoder and Substance present a selection of Remastered Tracks only previously available on Vinyl. Bring home just how far ahead of the game these guys were they are still contemporary. We are told there are some new productions in the pipe line from these guys. Responsible for Ruffneck Ting, Breakbeat Culture, Kosheen , Markee and Darren’s place in DnB folklore past present and future is assured.
Here we have Heist and Hazardous, punchy rollers, from the old skool but with a nu skool sensibility. Good music doesn’t age it matures.
